Cooper is Blind but waiting for a home!

More About Cooper- BLIND

Meet Cooper! He's got quite a sad story...but hopefully it will have a happy ending when he finds a new home.
Despite being blind, Cooper is a happy little Havanese...at least we're pretty sure that's what he is. He was pulled from a local animal shelter so we aren't able to ask his previous family about him. He was a shaggy mess when we pulled him but now that he's been to the groomer he's quite the handsome little man!.
Our vet thinks he is about 9 years old, which isn't old for such a little dog. He weighs less than 9 pounds. He's been heartworm tested, and given all his vaccines. Cooper's teeth are quite bad, and he has a heart murmer. There is a chance the heart murmer is caused from his bad teeth and bacteria getting into his blood stream. He will require blood work and chest x-rays to see if he is well enough to handle anesthesia to have a dental cleaning done. We are hoping that enough people will read this and offer donations to help us pay for these procedures. Click the Donate button to help!

As for his blindness, he has cateracts in both eyes. He does bump into walls often, but his blindness is no way deters him from enjoying life. He takes stairs like a pro, jumps off and on the sofa by himself, and comes when called. He is a VERY HAPPY DOG! The only issues I'm having with him is that my cats and dogs do not know he's blind, so they just think he is rude when he walks into them instead of around them. My cat has whacked him in the face a few times already.
He is fully crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. He wants nothing more than to lay on your lap or beside you. He occasionally gets riled up and barks and jumps and has tried to get my dogs to play with him. Unfortunately, he is not fully housebroken. I've only had for a week and there is real progress, however he is still lifting his leg in the house if I don't stay on top of him. It's possible that his previous family allowed him to potty in the house on newspapers or puppy pads because he always wants to go to my basement to go potty. He does love to be outside and happily goes anytime I ask him to. I don't think it will be too difficult to eventually housebreak him.
Because of the special needs Cooper has, a home visit will be required prior to his adoption. His adoption donation is $250. If you would like more information, to donate towards Cooper's medical bills, or an application for adoption, please email info@sheltertohome.com.

Frankie @ Michigan Humane Society Detroit

HEY, HEY, HOW ABOUT MY HAIRDO??????
Personally, I think it gives me a totally unique, all-me look!!!! So who am I????
My name is FRANKIE and I'm about 2 years young right now, which means I'm all grown up! But I still have a lot of puppy energy, so......my brand new, forever family should be ready for me to take them for walks around my new neighborhood, be able to learn how to play with doggy toys like balls and maybe frisbees and just plain old bouncing around the yard kind of companion doggy fun stuff!
Also, you should know that I am a pretty affectionate guy, which I know is really important and will make it that much easier for all of us to become best-ever buddies.
So why am I looking for my perfect new, forever home???? Well, somehow I became lost and no one ever ever came looking for me! I'm all safe and warm and well-fed here at the shelter, but it's just not the same as having my own family. I'm all up to date with my shots, but I still need to be neutered, which is included in my adoption fees. Also, look at my eye - I have what's called "cherry eye" and what that means is that my third eyelid became infected (happens to us cocker types) and ended up looking like this. Be sure and talk with my adoption counselor and my veterinarian about this - it has to be fixed when I have my surgery and will be included in my adoption fees. So, when am I going to meet you????
FRANKIE should have lots of toys to play with and chew on in his new, forever home, as well as his own crate to help him polish up his house manners. Kids would be great but they should be old enough to know how to be responsible both in play and with general care of FRANKIE. All interactions with kids should be supervised. Also, please consider having FRANKIE microchipped at the time of his adoption.

How to adopt FRANKIE!
The adoption fee includes sterilization surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, and the Michigan Humane Society 10-day health plan. For more information, please visit or call the Michigan Humane Society Detroit Center for Animal Care at 313-872-3400.

Lola @ Michigan Humane Society

Hi everyone. My name is Lola and I am an 8-Year-Old Siberian Huskey. The best part of all is that since I have already been spayed, I can go home with you TODAY!

I am a very friendly and happy girl. I am very nice to play with and I like to go for walks. I am very interested in new sights and want to investigate my surroundings. I have never lived with other dogs before. I really would rather not live with cats. To me they are fuzzy toys that need to be chased and caught. That is bad. I will get along with children of all ages (with supervision).

Cragislist

It really is too bad that someone on Craigslist keeps flagging the posts, that I have put up there. All I was trying to do was highlight pets that were available for adoption at various shelters. Since I don't have much traffic on this site without it, it really is not worth it to contiune to posts animals available for adoption. For the few people who do come to this site because of that, please continue to look on Petfinder.

thank you

Davey

More About Remy
Remy is a Real Sweetheart!
Hi everyone. My name is Remy and I am a 4-Year-Old Labrador Retriever/Great Dane mix. I weigh 58.80 pounds, but I really need to gain weight. I am way too skinny for my size. The best part of all is that since I have already been neutered, I can go home with you TODAY!

I am a very friendly and social boy. I just LOVE to meet new people and go new places. I am very strong and need help on learning how to walk on a leash. Ireally need to get some training and hope you and I can take classes together. This would be really fun and beneficial. I will learn my manners and how to be a really great doggie. The best part is that you and I will form a bond that will last a lifetime. I have never lived with other dogs or with cats before. If you have other doggies at home, we really need to meet first, just to make sure that we will get along. I also will do fine with children of all ages (with supervision). I also need to meet all children in the home prior to adoption also.

Dino @ Detroit Humane Society

More About DINO
HI, HO....it's...DINO!!!!
Meet DINO, one handsome 6 year young - ALREADY NEUTERED - Australian Cattle Dog mix who has found himself needing a brand new, forever home! What a revolting development that has been for this sweet and friendly guy! But it happens and he just knows his perfect family will find him. He is a bit shy at first, and can get startled a bit at sudden, new situations, but once he feels comfy, he'll be looking for affection and tum-tum rubs..... And when he's had enough, he'll let you know.
And, wow, does DINO have a tum-tum to rub!!! This guy is, frankly, too heavy! Dogs can develop serious health problems if they are too heavy, just as us humans can. DINO should have a good program of diet and exercise to get him back in shape, so be sure and consult with your vet about the best method to accomplish this goal. Right now heis on meds for an ear infection, which is responding nicely to medication.
DINO would do best in a quiet home and if there are kids, they should be older, like 10 and above. Loads of TLC and toys and loving is what this boy is seeking, as well as regular exercise and a high-quality diet. He should have his own crate in his new, forever home, to help with his transition to new surroundings as well as to give him his own spot when he wants to take a time-out from tum-tum rubs.
Because DINO is already NEUTERED he can go home the same day he is adopted, so round up the family and come get to know this sweet boy......then all go home together and start enjoying each other!! Don't forget to have hime microchipped!

Dora & Earl @ Oakland County Animal Shelter

Could these two be ANY more Adorable?!

More About Dora&Earl-234377/2
Hi we are Dora and Earl. We are brother and sister. Earl. We are pictured together. We need a home that will keep us together as we've been together all our lives, and it would not be good for us to be adopted out any other way than together. right now we are both a little scared and shy, but we have a lot of love to give. Earl likes to give pretty ladies kisses, and I just like to snuggle. We would be best in a home without children, and probably a quite home would also be best. Can you help us find the perfect place for us to call home? Our ID #s 234377 & 234378

Please Adopt them here!

Zane @ Michigan Humane Society Rochester MI

find out more about Zane here!

Zane is a Sweetheart!
Hi everyone. My name is Zane and I am a 1-Year-Old Siberian Husky mix. I weigh 53 pounds and I am pretty much full grown. As you can see from my picture, I am quite striking with my one brown eye and one blue eye! How cool is that!

I am a little bit shy when I first meet you, but in no time at all we will be best friends. I am really very loving and very gentle. I will come right up to you and sit for a hug. In return, I will give you the nicest doggie kisses around. You know, if you and I could take some classes together I can build my self-confidence, learn my manners and the best part is that you and I will form a bond that will last a lifetime. I have lived with other dogs before and we got along fine. I have never met a cat before. It might be best if I live in a home without cats because my breed is prey-driven and to me a cat may be a fuzzy toy that needs to be chased. This would be bad. I will do best in a home with children 5 years and older Smaller children may startle me with their quick movements and loud noises.
